About Gene

Artist in Steel:

Gene has always been an artist of sorts, but in 2002 he decided to pursue this passion. Drawing on 30 years of carpentry, building and design skills, and a business background, Gene has been successful in producing and marketing his work to a variety of clients.

Artisan:

With a background in carpentry, Gene creates indoor and garden sculptures in steel, wood and other materials. Painted or raw, these pieces reflect strength of purpose and design.

Where Gene Works:

Currently, Gene's main studio is at his five acre Peoria, IL area home.

The Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, where Gene takes class and has worked with and assisted Preston Jackson.

Bud Harvey's Hot Iron Blacksmith Shop where Gene processes some of his steel fabrication.

In Addition:

Member and volunteer of the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, the Peoria Art Guild and the Bohemian Art Society.

Owner of Good Work Construction from 1975-2001.

Researcher and implementer of passive solar concepts and other environmentally friendly building techniques.

Serves on the Medina Township Planning and Zoning Commission.

Former building code official for the City of Peoria.
