About Dave

David Webster began drawing as soon as he was able to pick up a pencil. Because of the encouragement of his grandfather, he continued to develop as a young artist. The training he received in grade school through high school was in his estimation outstanding and a very important part of his decision to continue to study art attending the Academy of Art in Chicago.

David worked as a graphic artist in the Chicago area for 10 years and also became very involved in fine arts. His talent became well known when he walked away with Best of Show and People's Choice time after time in the art shows that he entered.

As a Christian, David set aside his artist brushes to work as a full time home missionary for eight years. Working at a children's camp, much to his delight, his artistic talent was used at this time of his life as well. He created pamphlets, T-shirts and a wide variety of challenges to the creative mind of an artist.

David works in many mediums, his favorites being oils and acrylics. Varied is his talent, from the whimsical characters he created in his published children's art instruction/coloring book, And God Created, to his realistic portraits, to the precision detail of graphic designs and logo work.

Some of the variety of his work has been:

  • Professional sports figures, painted on a variety of surfaces from jerseys to basketballs.

  • A 44 foot indoor mural adorns Bella Italian Oven Restaurant in Washington, IL.

  • "Rescuers Moment," a collage of the scenes from 9/11 New York, is a dedication to all who risk their lives to save another, located on Berean Bookstore, Peoria IL.

  • "Joey's Secret Garden" for OSF Children Hospital a mural to make an outdoor courtyard a little more cheery for their precious patients.

  • Mt. Pulaski and the "Looking for Lincoln" committee asked Dave to paint one of America's most loved Presidents, Abraham Lincoln, on the site of the old Pulaski House.

  • Many other "removable" murals have been painted at other Peoria area businesses.

  • Commemorative pieces, portraits (both human and animals), and just for fun, some abstracts.

David and his wife Betty, along with their parrot Jasper, make their home in Washington, IL.
