Bohemian Art Society
I am a blacksmith, which means I “Forge Iron into Black Gold Treasures”. This is my mantra and my goal for creating artwork that will survive the test of time while providing aesthetic pleasure. Since 1997, I have been blending traditional blacksmith processes and the 20th century metal working processes to produce fine quality ornamental art work from the forge and anvil at Hot Iron Blacksmith. My blacksmith studio is located on the scenic Illinois River near Mossville, Illinois, where I utilize techniques taught by master blacksmith Uri Hofi, of Israel to create custom iron work often referred generically as “wrought iron”. I have also trained under well known Peoria area blacksmith, Gary Jameson, and other noted American blacksmiths. My education is ongoing and I will continue to learn as long as I am capable of studying this art form and practice my teachings.I also have a commercial background in industrial application and processing of metals. This includes Bachelor of Science Engineering Degrees from Oregon State University in both Metallurgical and Mechanical Engineering. I have been a NAPM Certified Purchasing Manager. I am on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association and the American Society for Materials; and besides the Bohemian Art Society, I am a member of the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America. I have retired from industry after 37 years in various management positions in engineering, quality and purchasing. For contributions to the youth of America and the world, I was presented the Silver Beaver Award by the Far East Council of the Boy Scouts of America.I am proud to be associated with the fine arts that represent Bohemian Art Society and am humbled by the talents of all. Following are a few of the various art forms that I have created. |
